Abstract

Purpose: This study is aimed to identify the influence of resilience and spiritual well-being on quality of life of people with mental disabilities.
Methods: 162 people with mental disabilities were recruited from three department of outpatient in mental hospitals and one day hospital in Busan and Gyeongnam. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson¡¯s correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression.
Results: Quality of life was positively correlated with resilience (r=.67, p<.001) and spiritual well-being (r=.62, p<.001). Factors influencing quality of life were resilience (¥â=.44, p<.001), spiritual well being (¥â=.34, p<.001), and number of hospitalizations (¥â=-.10, p=.048). The explanatory power of these factors for quality of life of people with mental illness was 53%.
Conclusion: The results suggest that in development and practice of program to increase the quality of life of people with mental disabilities a variety of factors should be considered.
