Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify korean traditional concepts of health. Korean traditional concepts of health was studied through the related literature of Shamanism, Buddhisms, Taoism, Theory of Yin Yong, and the Theory of Four Constitution.
As a result, 3 components of health were revealed, which were harmony and balance, self-regulation and temperance.
Harmony and balance means maintainging harmonious relationships with human beings and with all living matter in the universe. The concept of Self-regulation and temperance are based on the principle of moderation and the Korean holistic conception of health which is to maintain balance between mind and body through strict self-regulation and control.
Therefore the basis of these three components of heath is the Korean traditional conception of hearth that can be summurized as the harmonious balance between body and mind through self-regulation and temperance in balanch with the universe.
